| Bio: | I am a yet-to-be-published children's writer with a focus on picture books. I live in Kansas and have also lived in Iowa and Nebraska. I review picture books for YA Books Central (www.yabookscentral.com). I'm involved in SCBWI's Kansas region and have recently joined JWKC (Juvenile Writers of Kansas City).
More than you'll ever need to know about me:
I am currently a stay-at-home mom and work from home part time as an online sales trainer, teaching advertising account executives in radio, TV, cable and newspaper the fundamentals of customer-focused selling. I also write a marketing column for a cable ad sales trade publication.
Prior to my big career switch, I was a sales manager for various midwestern cable systems as well as a regional marketing director for the ad sales departments of a major cable company. When the cable systems started to consolidate (again) in 2001, I lost my job and started a small consulting business (which I closed right before baby #3 was born!) where I researched, wrote and published a paid subscription newsletter for ad sales pros.
Somewhere along the line, I decided it was more fun to make things up than it was to conduct lengthy interviews and transcribe tapes. I've been writing for children ever since. |
