Going to the birds

Last week [info]laurabowers posted about her experience  with birds in the dryer vent. Are the birds taking over?

Guess where I found  this nest?

Yes, in my grill!

In honor of my feathered friends, here's a poem  I wrote last year when  they stuffed the grill with sticks:

I listened as birds made a nest.
The outcome was worse than I'd guessed.
I opened the grill.
And found a straw hill.
Burgers without twigs taste the best.

So....what to do?? Should we go without grilling until they hatch, or move the nest and hope mommy bird comes back?

Grilled chicken extraordinaire!!! I think she was just trying to save you the trouble of gathering twigs and food for your fire. :o)
I think you could probably movethe nest, but just in case, google a wildlife center to be sure. I know there are a bunch of sites out there!!

That's crazy! And sort of delightful! I have no idea what you should do.

Wow! I've never seen that before! Sounds like an interesting thing to put in one of your books!

I thought the same thing. There has to be a clever story, or at least a scene, in there somewhere.

I think it's pretty neat, but I'm not sure I can go without grilling for a few weeks :-( I've been broiling our steak and chicken.

What a wonderful place to build a nest! Oh George Foreman...

I was just thinking that I might need a George Foreman grill to get through this! I just hope my grill is still worth using once they move out.

WOW! That's quite a picture! Is it a robin's nest?

Isn't it neat? Yes, I think it's a robin's nest. She flies away too fast when we open the back door, so I haven't gotten a good look. Since I just took the kids to see Hoot, I just can't bring myself to get rid of them!

That's what I'm afraid of. (the mama not returning)

And, they are sooo neat to watch!

Man, that's an awful big nest for four tiny eggs! You've got mine beat by a mile. ;)

I say leave 'em. But put up a "no vacancy" sign next year!
